I’m Alexander, the founder and the only artist behind Ayaki Ceramics.

This is a single-person project where every piece is crafted entirely by my hands - from the first touch of clay to the final firing in the kiln, and all the way into your hands. I take care of it all.

At Ayaki Ceramics, I create functional ceramic pieces for tea practices, with a deep passion for the chawan (茶碗; literally "tea bowl") a vessel that embodies the soul of the Japanese tea ceremony. To me, there's something spiritual about a chawan, because it holds more than tea, it holds presence.

In my work, I strive to embody wabi-sabi, a philosophy that embraces imperfection, transience, and the beauty of natural flaws. Through wood ash glazes, Oribe inspired designs, and heavily grogged clay, I create pieces that highlight the organic nature of ceramics.

Each chawan carries its own unique variations, making it as individual person who uses it.
