This yunomi is not glazed, but it is finished.
Thrown from dense, high-fired black stoneware and left unglazed, the surface holds the memory of my hands, the rhythm of the wheel, and the quiet crackle of fire. The texture is raw yet refined, slightly coarse to the touch, inviting you to slow down and feel it.
Though left bare, this cup is fully vitrified, fired to a temperature where the clay becomes non-porous and sealed within itself. It’s strong, water-tight, and safe to use every day. But like all things sacred, it asks for gentleness. Skip the detergents and dishwashers. Rinse with warm water. Let it age naturally, develop a patina, and become more beautiful with time.
With its slightly larger body than a gongfu cup and no handle, the yunomi is perfect for loose-leaf teas, daily green teas, or even herbal infusions. This piece brings the wabi-sabi spirit into the everyday—unpolished, grounded, and real.
